- as well as the Expert Level (in preparation).
The ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Software Tester Programme is the first and only internationally recognised, standardised training and further education scheme for software testers.
It is aimed at people who perform or want to perform test tasks and who want to distinguish themselves as users of software testing techniques.

ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Tester Foundation Level
Details anzeigen/ausblendenThe Foundation Level provides the basic knowledge, terminology and techniques of software testing. The training is aimed at
- Software testers in industrial or service companies who want to substantiate their experience with basic knowledge
- People who have taken or want to take on test tasks and do not have any basic knowledge
With the Foundation Level certificate and several years of testing experience, the next step is to complete the Advanced Level. This is divided into three modules, which are individually tested and certified.
ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Tester Agile Extension Foundation Level
Details anzeigen/ausblendenThis additional training to become an Agile Tester, which builds on the Foundation Level, provides the knowledge to successfully work in an agile project as a test specialist and to contribute your own test expertise in the best possible way. The most important learning contents are:
- basics of agile software development
- aspects of agile approaches
- Differences between tests in traditional and agile approaches
- Status of testing in agile projects
- Role and ability of a tester in an agile team
- Agile test methods
- assessing quality risks and estimating testing efforts
- techniques and tools in agile projects
The prerequisite for participation in the examination is the ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate.
ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Tester Foundation Level Usability Tester
Details anzeigen/ausblendenUsability" describes the user experience when interacting with a software or system. In order to provide the user with the most satisfactory experience possible with the software or system, the quality of usability plays a major role. This is as much about effectiveness and efficiency as it is about the overall satisfaction of the user.
The prerequisite for taking the exam is the ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate.
ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Tester Advanced Level
Details anzeigen/ausblendenParticipants at the Advanced Level are qualified to perform all activities related to testing. The course is divided into three modules, which can be attended individually and each of which ends with an examination. These are:
- SAQ Certified Tester - Test Manager (partial certificate)
- SAQ Certified Tester - Test Analyst (partial certificate)
- SAQ Certified Tester - Technical Test Analyst (partial certificate)
After the 3 partial certificates have been obtained, an overall certificate is issued.
ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Tester Expert Level
Details anzeigen/ausblendenThe Expert Level is aimed at experienced, professional software testers who wish to deepen their knowledge in a specialised field. It consists of various modules, such as
- Test Process Improvement
- test management

ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Tester Foundation Level
Details anzeigen/ausblendenThe test guarantees a worldwide uniform and comparable certification.
- The examination is a multiple choice questioning in written form, which takes 60 minutes. A minimum of 65% of the maximum number of points is required to pass the exam.
- The result can be found out immediately after the examination.
- The exam can be taken in German, French or English
The basis for the examination questions is the internationally uniform curriculum.
Examination venue:
- At a training organisation (with - or without course). Examination dates can be arranged directly.
- at the office of the SAQ Swiss Association for Quality.
Exams for individuals or small groups (maximum five persons). - Via remote monitoring on your own computer at home.

ISTQB®/SAQ Certified Tester Advanced Level (TA, TTA, TM)
Details anzeigen/ausblenden- The exams are a multiple choice questioning in written form, which takes 180 minutes (TA, TM) or 120 minutes (TTA). A minimum of 65% of the maximum number of points is required to pass the exam.
- The result will be announced in writing 10 to 15 working days after the examination.
- The examination can be taken in German, French or English.
Examination venue:
- At a training organisation (with - or without course). Examination dates can be arranged directly.
- at the office of the SAQ Swiss Association for Quality.

Result communication
Tablet and remote exams are evaluated immediately after submission and the percentage achieved is displayed on the screen. Paper tests are evaluated by the certification body. Written confirmation of the result and the certificate are sent by email 10 to 15 working days after the exam.
