In addition to his professional activities as a self-employed master carpenter Ruedi Lustenberger (born 1950) is politically active. He was a member of the Grand Council in Lucerne (1991-1999), which he chaired in 1999, and was subsequently active in various commissions as a member of the National Council (1999-2015), as well as President of the National Council in the term of office 2013/2014. In 2013 Ruedi Lustenberger was elected President of the Swiss Association for Quality. For more than eleven years he was president of the Central Association of Swiss Master Carpenters and Furniture Manufacturers (VSSM). He is currently a board member of the Swiss Trade Association (SGV) and President of Swiss Label (Society for the Promotion of Swiss Products and Services). Since 2018 Ruedi Lustenberger has been mayor of Romoos.
